Taking the Next Step After Swimming Lessons
Is your child finishing their Learn to Swim programme and ready for something new?
Nairn District Amateur Swimming Club offers a supportive pathway for swimmers aged 8+ to move into club swimming. We build on the skills learned in lessons while introducing the foundations of competitive swimming in a fun and encouraging environment.
Swimmers begin to train as part of a team, developing technique, confidence, and a love of the sport at their own pace.
A Positive Introduction to Competitive Swimming
We understand that moving into a swimming club can feel like a big step. Our focus is on learning, enjoyment, and personal progress—never pressure.
Our qualified coaches help swimmers to:
- Improve stroke technique and core skills
- Build fitness, coordination, and water confidence
- Develop teamwork, resilience, and positive habits
We welcome swimmers of all abilities, including those who simply want to swim for fitness as well as those interested in competing.
Getting Started & First Opportunities
New members are always welcome, and we offer up to 4 free trial sessions over a maximum of 28 days so your child can settle in and build confidence.
Trial sessions are usually held on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30pm, giving swimmers a chance to experience club training before joining.
As confidence grows, swimmers can take part in friendly competitions and galas, with plenty of support every step of the way. If you have any questions, we’re always happy to help.
A Club Built by Families
Nairn District Amateur Swimming Club is a volunteer-run club, supported by parents, carers, and family members of our swimmers. This community approach helps create a positive, friendly environment and allows the club to operate successfully for all members.

Powered by Volunteers
Every session, gala, and success in the pool depends on a team of volunteers. From coaches and officials to poolside helpers and committee members, it takes many people to keep the club running. No experience is needed—just a willingness to help. Training and support are provided. Even a small contribution makes a big difference. Without volunteers, there is no club.

What We Ask of Parents
As a volunteer-led club, we rely on the support of our families. As swimmers grow within the club, parents are encouraged to:
- Support their child’s regular attendance and positive attitude to training
- Help with simple volunteer roles at galas or club events (full guidance provided)
- Communicate positively with coaches and club volunteers
- Encourage good sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect
These expectations are introduced gradually and reflect our belief that swimming is a team effort involving swimmers, coaches, and families.
