Swimmers & Competitions
Helping swimmers gain confidence, have fun racing, and take their first steps into competition.
Why Competitions Matter
Swimming competitions are an important and enjoyable part of a swimmer’s development. They provide a chance to apply skills learned in training, build confidence, and experience racing in a supportive environment.
At Nairn District Amateur Swimming Club, we encourage all swimmers to take part in appropriate events — from fun internal races through to regional and external meets.
Club Competition Opportunities
Our club hosts several friendly competitions throughout the year, designed to help swimmers build confidence in a familiar environment.
Gibson Shield Sprint Championships
September
A fun introduction to racing featuring 25m sprint events for all ages. Perfect for first-time competitors.
Club Championships
November
A progression meet including 25m, 50m, 100m events plus 200m & 400m Individual Medley. Designed to support swimmer development across all abilities.
Fast Fifties
March
A fast-paced sprint meet featuring 25m events for younger swimmers and 50m sprints for older swimmers.
Nairn IM Challenge Meet
Each May, NDASC hosts the Nairn IM Challenge Meet, welcoming swimmers from clubs across the region.
This event provides a friendly introduction to external competition in a supportive and well-organised environment.
It is an excellent opportunity for swimmers to experience racing against other clubs while still close to home.

Other Great Opportunities
In addition to club events, swimmers are encouraged to take part in a variety of external competitions.
Mini Meets
Friendly, low-pressure events ideal for younger or less experienced swimmers.
Graded Meets & HST Events
More structured competitions that support progression through regional and performance pathways.
Getting Involved
Competitions are about enjoyment, learning, and personal progress — not pressure or expectation.
Coaches will advise swimmers on suitable events, and parents are always supported when entering competitions.
